Anas' face unveiling
After several years of hiding his face under a beaded mask, pictures and videos from a US Court showing the purported identity of Anas Aremeyaw Anas have taken over social media.
However, according to reports, the 2021 Foreign Journalist of the Year wore prosthetics to court to shield his identity, and the pictures and videos circulating online were not him.
This comes after a U.S. court ordered former Ghanaian MP Kennedy Agyapong to pay $18 million in damages to investigative journalist Anas in a defamation lawsuit.

Anas' US suit against Kennedy Agyapong
The lawsuit stemmed from comments Agyapong made during an interview on "The Daddy Fred Show" in September 2021. During the US-based online program hosted by Ghanaian Frederick Asamoah and broadcast in Twi, Agyapong referred to Anas as a "criminal" and a "thief."
More seriously, the former Assin North Member of Parliament alleged that Anas was responsible for the murder of fellow investigative journalist Ahmed Suale and claimed he caused the deaths of multiple Chinese nationals in Ghana.
Anas, widely recognized for his undercover journalism exposing corruption, argued that these accusations severely damaged his reputation and placed his life at risk. The journalist pursued legal action in the United States after his earlier defamation suit against Agyapong in Ghana was dismissed.
In his defence, Agyapong claimed that his remarks were made during a political dispute and were not intended to be taken literally. However, the US court rejected this argument, ruling that the statements were indeed defamatory and awarding Anas substantial damages.
