Asantehene Advises Bawumia To Acknowledge Failings While On Campaign Trail: "There Is A Shortfall"

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advised New Patriotic Party Flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia to acknowledge his failures as he campaigns to be president.

During an engagement at the Manhyia Palace on June 12, 2024, the Asantehene also urged the Vice President to communicate his policy proposals with clarity to Ghanaians.

He further highlighted the need for humility and transparency when confronting limitations or mistakes, adding that the Vice President’s advisors should offer robust support and counsel.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II believes Ghanaians are willing to be responsive should the Vice President admit failings in governance.

Bawumia has been atop a government that has overseen the worst economic crisis in decades.

Ghana returned to the IMF for a bailout for the 17th time due to its economic crisis.

Bawumia has already tried to distance himself from some of the Akufo-Addo administration's policies.

The NPP flagbearer has promised to abolish the e-levy and other taxes burdening Ghanaians.

Vice President Bawumia started a three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on Monday, June 10, 2024.

He has engaged with various stakeholders as part of his campaign for the December 7, 2024, presidential election.

YEN.com.gh reported that Kennedy Agyapong joined Bawumia's campaign bus in the Ashanti Region.

Agyapong said on Twitter that he had been invited by Bawumia and made an appearance at Suame Magazine.

Amid speculation about Bawumia's running mate, Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central, has already said he has no interest in partnering with the flagbearer of the NPP as running mate.
